The Fort Lupton Chamber of Commerce, along with United Power, is sponsoring the third annual holiday lighting contest. All residents of Fort Lupton, as well as Weld County residents residing in the five-mile area surrounding the city, are eligible to be a part of the contest.
There are three categories for prizes this year: Residence Award (first and second place), Business Award (first and second Place) and the Mayor’s Award. Custom-engraved ornaments will be given for all winners. Judging will be based upon creativity, theme and the use of holiday decorations to spread the cheer of the season.
Fort Lupton residents will be automatically entered into the contest, while county residents in the five-mile radius of the city are encouraged to call the Fort Lupton Chamber of Commerce to register their holiday light residence in order to be considered for the contest. Out-of-town residence must register by Dec. 7 in order to be considered for the contest. Register by calling the Chamber at 303-857-4474 and give detailed directions and the address for the out-of-town residence.
Judging will take place the week of Dec. 10, and all lights must be on by 6 p.m. A local volunteer organization or group will be traveling and scoring the holiday lights that evening. Awards will be announced and publicized on Thursday, Dec. 20.
