FORT LUPTON — The 2014 annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet will have a cruise ship theme Jan. 25 at the Fort Lupton Recreation Center, 203 Harrison Ave.

Each year the chamber hosts the annual banquet in order to recognize outstanding members and to celebrate their contributions to the greater Fort Lupton community. This year, the chamber is inviting members to take a cruise to “Prosperity Island.”

Sandy Akins, the chamber’s administrative assistant, said the chamber was looking forward to the event.

“There will be different events happening through the evening, and each of them will happen on different ‘decks,’ which will be different locations specified throughout the Rec Center,” Akins said. “We’re also having a silent auction.”

All proceeds from the silent auction are used by the chamber to provide programs and services to its members.

“We’re saying goodbye to our outgoing president, Randy Reese, and welcoming in our new board members and our new president, Kristel Acre, and our vice-president Mariann Johnston, and our new secretary is Tina Powell,” Akins said.

In addition to the new board members, the chamber will also recognize individual business members.

“They will also giving out three different awards,” Akins said. “There’s going to be the President’s Award, an Outstanding Member or Business award and then the Development Corporation gives out an award as well.”

Signature sponsors for the event are Bank of Colorado and Gray Oil. Charitable Partners include Forlurado and The Community Foundation.

Steven St. James will provide entertainment in the spirit of the Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack.

Chamber vice president Mariann Johnston, with Bank of Colorado, said the event will be an enjoyable night for chamber members, with tickets designed to look like cruiseship boarding passes.

“I’m excited,” Johnston said. “The theme is fun, and we’re all looking forward to Saturday.”

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with an embarkation and bon voyage cocktail reception. At 5:30, the “Captain’s Dinner” begins, with the silent auction following at 6:30 on the “Promenade Deck.”

St. James will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on the “Lido Deck.”
