The “Blessings in a Bag” board members accepted a generous donation check from Mr. John Hicks, representing the CHIPS Foundation at the Platte Valley Medical Center on Jan. 22.

The Blessings in a Bag program provides nutritious, non-perishable food items from all of the food groups to children in need attending Butler and Twombly elementary schools every Friday in order to have nourishing food over the weekends.

At special holiday times, treats or small gifts are added to their bags.

The group is currently preparing about 150 dispersals each week with a limited staff.

Grateful assistance in the transport of the tubs of bags is done by the Fort Lupton Fire Department.

The Blessings in a Bag board wished to extend sincere and grateful thinks to the CHIPS Foundation for their consideration and donation to the project, and support to many other community organizations.
